Broadgrain Partners with University of Ilorin to Advance Agricultural Education and Development in Nigeria

Toronto, Canada – December 3rd 2023 – Broadgrain, a global leader in agricultural trading, is pleased to announce a collaborative initiative with the University of Ilorin aimed at bolstering agricultural education and development in Nigeria. This strategic partnership will see the cultivation of 200 hectares of land for sorghum, soya beans, and maize, forming the cornerstone of a long-term program to support agricultural studies in the region.

“We are excited to start this journey with the University of Ilorin,” said Zaid Qadoumi, President & CEO of Broadgrain. “This initiative is at the heart of our commitment to agriculture and education in the countries we operate in. Thank you to Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole, and the University for taking this step with us.”

Under the partnership, five hectares of the cultivated land will be dedicated as a student demonstration farm, providing invaluable hands-on learning opportunities for agricultural students. This initiative aligns with Broadgrain’s dedication to fostering sustainable agricultural practices and empowering the next generation of agricultural leaders.

The University of Ilorin, renowned for its academic excellence and commitment to community engagement, stands poised to benefit greatly from this collaboration. Through shared expertise and resources, both Broadgrain and the University aim to drive meaningful impact in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, laying the foundation for long-term sustainability and prosperity.

Toronto, Canada – June 11, 2025 — In support of the World Health Organization’s World Food Safety Day, Broadgrain Canada proudly joined the global food industry in recognizing the importance of food safety standards and promoting a culture of quality and awareness across its facilities.

Observed this year on June 7th, World Food Safety Day is a key moment to highlight the critical role that strong food safety practicesplay in protecting public health and ensuring trust in food supply chains. Broadgrain Canada celebrated the occasion on Monday, June 9th across its facilities, bringing teams together for a variety of onsite activities aimed at raising awareness and engaging staff.

The celebrations included interactive games and contests, themed signage displayed throughout facilities, and team gatherings designed to spark conversation and reflection on best practices in food safety. In some locations, catered meals brought an added sense of community to the day, reinforcing the shared responsibility every team member holds in upholding food safety and quality.

“World Food Safety Day offers a valuable opportunity to recognize the efforts of our team members who work daily to ensure that food safety remains a top priority,” said a Broadgrain spokesperson. “It’s more than a compliance measure—it’s about creating a culture where food safety is second nature to everyone, from operations to logistics.”
