Operator (Dry bulk)

  • Execution of chartering contracts, which include voyage/TC contracts.
  • Ensuring that the voyages are performed in compliance with the relevant contracts with due consideration to the commercial strategy. To be responsible for maximizing profit for each voyage.
  • Responsible for following up on post fixture activities and day-to-day execution
  • Monitoring of vessel movements for executing of activities including bunker planning, appointment & coordination with agents and obtaining necessary documentations.
  • Responsible for the preparation, negotiation, and finalization of laytime calculations. To always think out of the box to maximize Dispatch and minimize the demurrage.
  • Handling of voyage accounts for the ships including hire payments, freight payments, SOA and settlement of final voyage account with ship owner.
  • Appointing agents, negotiating proforma D/A and reviewing/settling the final D/A documents.
  • Coordinating with the Legal and Insurance team to minimize risk and exposure. Ensuring that disputes and claims are settled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Coordinating with account and commercial department on payments, BL collection, tallying of financial statement and following up of outstanding account with relevant parties.
  • Liaise with various parties like ship master, ship brokers, bunker trader, port agents, marine surveyor and other service providers on day-to-day operation matters to ensure all voyages are running smoothly.
  • Ensure compliance to relevant maritime laws, industry standards and insurance matters where appropriate.
  • Working as operations PIC to update vessels ocean and port schedules, solution providing to minimize delays / optimize smooth voyage performance.
  • Monitor vessel performance, analyze date and give regular feedback to Management.
  • Review the stowage plans prepared by the master, study vessel’s description and end up with conclusions to maximize cargo intake.
  • Drawing and finalizing charter parties.
  • To assist the chartering and operation manager as required.
  • Any other duties that might be assigned by the management

 

 

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ Degree from a recognized university.
  • Min two years of experience in dry bulk shipping industry with exposure to CP Terms negotiation and Laytime (Dry Bulk), as well as Bills of Lading and other shipping documentation.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with strong analytical and calculation skills.
  • Self-driven with strong willingness to learn, result oriented, with a positive outlook, and imagination to bring new ideas and solutions to the table.

The Maintenance lead will be located in Seaforth, Ontario, reporting the location manager and will focus on maintenance of plant operations and plant labour support during harvest seasons. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and within a team environment, while demonstrating sound mechanical aptitude.  The Maintenance Lead is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

-Performing work in all weather conditions

-Performing general maintenance work to avoid possible failures and malfunctions

-Assisting in developing preventive and corrective maintenance programs

-Working with millwright support as needed

-Maintaining complete records of daily maintenance activities

The Senior Grain Trader will be located in Toronto, Ontario or Saskatchewan, and will focus on trading grains in our Food Division. RESPONSIBILITIES:

BroadGrain Commodities is growing and is in need of multiple Regional Market Advisors.  As a member of BroadGrain’s Market Advisor team, you will effectively purchase grain from farm customers and small private elevators. The perfect candidate will build and maintain strong relationships with the business and ensure the delivery of high quality and timely service to BroadGrain. Reporting directly to the Senior Director – Feed Trade, the successful candidate will fill the follows roles in the organization:

 

-Primary focus is to buy crops and be the first contact with farm producers of grains sourced into our facilities in Ontario and directly to end users across Ontario and Quebec

-Provide market information and cash grain bids to farm and commercial while establishing a grain marketing plan for targeted customers

-Provide ongoing market information and feedback to traders and the grain merchandising group for developing effective procurement plans

-Works to establish BroadGrain as the first choice in value-added grain marketing

-Organizes and plans group and individual grain marketing educational programs; this includes preparing and delivering presentations

-Provide customer service and act as one of the primary points of contact for customers

-Execute grain contracts from pricing to delivery

-Assist with resolving supplier issues and complaints

-Able to make farm calls in person at times

Qualifications of an ideal candidate:

Reporting directly to the Director, Human Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible to:

 

-Prepare and administer biweekly payroll for salary and hourly employees, which includes but is not limited to payroll back-up, audit reports and responding to inquiries

-Addressing any concerns or questions about pay discrepancies and follow up to address any problems presented

-Handle payroll and benefits administration including; new hire setup, status changes, termination, benefits processing, ROE, etc.

-Weekly entry and reconciliation of timesheets

-Maintain digital employee files and all payroll/benefits documents

-Independently following up on correspondence, requests and outstanding issues to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution

-Administration of the benefits program through processing new employee enrolment, employee plan changes and annual updates

-Preparation of various HR documentation including transfer letters, HR Change forms, and employment confirmation letters

-Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety programs, including records-management and committee meeting minutes; member of the Health & Safety Committee

-Creates and prepares monthly reports and other HR metric reports, including vacation accrual tracking, payroll allocation, etc.

-Ensures appropriate delegation, follow-up and resolution of inquiries and requests for information received by the team and all fellow employees as required

Reporting to Senior VP operations this position will be responsible for all day- to-day operations of the grain location and rail terminal and supervision of staff.  As Plant Operations Manager, you will manage the processing facility with over 10 staff to increase facility throughput.  This position is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • The management of a processing facility, grain elevator and feed ingredient rail terminal. Overseeing and ensuring compliance and continuous improvement of quality management systems (i.e. Food safety system and Safety programs)
  • Manages the receiving, grading, binning, cleaning, processing, blending and shipping of products ensuring optimal use of facility space and equipment to meet shipping commitments.
  • Works cooperatively with Merchandising and Transportation Logistics to maximize throughput and profitability including maintaining an up-to-date understanding of end-user requirements in order to plan for and meet specifications.
  • Works closely with logistics and planning departments to assist with timely and efficient shipment of grain products.
  • Oversees receiving and shipping
  • Monitors profit and loss targets relating to facility operations and implements corrective actions.
  • Oversees inventory management.
  • Oversees facility housekeeping and the preventative maintenance program.
  • Fosters an environment of continuous improvement in health and safety, business process, environmental and security programs, and strives to build a positive team working environment for staff.
    • Ensures compliance and is proficient in the FSSC food safety program and other industry regulations, ensuring a safe working environment and facilities which portray a positive image.
    • Responsible for all aspects of human resource management including hiring, promoting, performance management and discharging within company policy. Provides for effective staff development according to department requirements.
    • Develops and manages an operating budget and recommends capital requirements to the VP operations.
    • Develops, maintains and manages effective relationships with local regulatory agency representatives, local industry contacts and local elected officials.

Reporting to the CFO, the Tax Manager will oversee all of BroadGrain’s Canadian and international tax requirements, including tax compliance, transfer pricing and tax planning.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Tax Return Compliance

  • CRA Audit Management
  • Prepare Canadian tax filings
  • Coordinate and review international tax filings prepared by outside service providers (currently including subsidiaries in China, UAE, Nigeria, Barbados and Argentina)
  • Ensure compliance with tax requirements in multiple jurisdictions
  • Review and prepare T1134 information returns relating to foreign affiliates for all applicable entities annually, annual filing of T106s, W-8BEN-E, FATCA and CRS forms are required to be completed from time to time
  • Transfer Pricing
  • Country by Country reporting
  • Track tax law changes and ensure compliance with Canadian and non-Canadian transfer pricing regulations
  • Analyze current and future transfer pricing actions to help mitigate risk, optimize efficiency and facilitate future business operations
  • Create reports, memoranda, responses, and other transfer pricing related documents for audit support, compliance, and internal communication purposes
  • Review intercompany journal entries and accounts reconciliations
  • Work closely with Accounting department to ensure processes and procedures and accounting for income tax are consistent with transfer pricing policies
  • Work closely with International Tax and external advisors to ensure transfer pricing policies are suitable

We are currently seeking a Labourer for our Seaforth location.  Reporting to the Plant Manager, the ideal candidate will be able to follow direction, adhere to HACCP and CIPRS protocols, and have a strong work ethic and good customer relations shills.  The responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Unloading railcars
  • Safely loading and unloading trucks
  • Bagging of materials
  • General maintenance and yard work
  • filling out paperwork
  • Other duties as required

Please be aware that this job requires that you be able to work in dusty environments.  You must also be willing to work longer than the average 8 hours at certain times of the year.  For example the shifts will be longer during the harvest season.
